The Dighton Police Station in Massachusetts has lost some needed space. And it was all because of the mold infestation recently discovered.
Particularly, the fungus was found in the room used for firearm licensing and interviewing, which also served as a passage to the evidence storage room. But because of the spores, the department had no choice but to demolish that area.
The section decimated was about 300 square feet. And in addition to it, a storage area at the back of the station was also found with mold infestation. Roof leaks were determined to be the cause of it.
However, to the relief of the people in the station, a test showed that the air quality in the building was still safe. But with the officials considering the structure a risk with all the fungus in it, a plan was set to transfer the department.

“A section of the police station was demolished by officials earlier this week after it was discovered that a section of the building was infested with mold.
“We lost 300 square feet of this building,” Dighton police Chief Robert MacDonald said Friday.
Officials are now trying to determine a location for a new temporary police department annex.”
